If you have already opened a driving file in another emirate, please let us know. It may affect your eligibility or the process for transferring or opening a new file in Abu Dhabi.
Do you have a driving license from your home country?
Yes, it should be a valid driving license from your home country. It must be a hard copy in card format (not a paper license) to be eligible under the Golden Chance scheme.
Are you looking for a Golden Chance Driving License in the UAE?
To be eligible for the Golden Chance Driving License, you must have a valid orginal driving license from your home country along with valid Emarates ID of any emarates.
What are the additional criteria for the Golden Chance Driving License?
The applicant must pass an eye test from an RTA-approved optician. There should be no major traffic violations or accident history in the applicant's home country.
What is the residency requirement?
The applicant must be a legal resident of UAE, holding a valid UAE residence visa (Any Emirates residents can apply)
How long does it take to get a driving license in Abu Dhabi?
The duration depends on your experience and whether you qualify for the Golden Chance. If eligible, the process may take just a few weeks. For new learners, it usually takes 2 to 3 months, including theory classes, practical training, and tests.
